When to use methyl cellulose

Post by milan_r »

Hi,

I know there are a lot of threads about MC already but had a question that I haven’t seen. I am using Unryu to fold Satoshi Kamiya’s phoenix. Should I treat the paper in advance, after the base is folded, or during shaping?

Thanks

For unryu, you’ll want to treat the paper before starting the model. The same applies to kozo and most other papers—basically anything that doesn’t already have sizing, as well as machine-made tissue paper.

You’ll also have to cut the paper square (again) once it’s dry. This is true for any paper that needs MC, as it often warps slightly during treatment.
After the fall, we rise.
