Even after reading this thread I'm still a bit confused on step 19. After folding the outside corner down and squashing the interior corner to the left, my model doesn't look like the picture.
Which layer of paper is supposed to be unsunk? And why does it mention a petal fold?

Paper Ninja: after I read your post, I did go and make a funny face at myself in the mirror
About step 19: you have to make half of a petal fold (as shown in step 19) because otherwise you can't fold down the outside corner of step 18 all the way. So by folding step 18, the half petal fold should happen somewhat automatically once you have it creased.
And the paper "in" the half petal fold needs to be unsunk. It basically makes it a squash fold.
And make sure you're folding the flap down according to the landmarks, because you don't fold the flap down on the same line that you used in step 17.
Does this help at all?

Radiant_Howl2528: Yes, I can help you
For step 37, you just.... its like a... you take the flap and.... gosh, this is a really hard step to explain.
Ok, like the description says, its like a rabbit ear fold.
You also have to pull the raw edge out/up away from the paper.
When I did it, I think I unfolded the raw edge, and then I did the creases shown. So basically unfold step 36, pull the raw edges to the sides which should cause the point to come/fold downwards slightly, and then I pinched the point and pulled it upward as shown by the arrow instep 37.(at this step, its not really a point anymore because it looks kind of like step 40 in regards to the horizontal edge going across the middle)
You also have to keep in mind that step 38 isn't flat, that the middle flap that you just folded is perpindicular to the rest of the model.
Does this help at all?
-also, steps 36-41 are just turning that point inside out, so you don't even need to do it exactly as shown, but this might be too difficult for you, so you may just want to ignore this last comment

Really the easiest way to do that part is to unfold the flap completely after step 35, then skip to step 40. Steps 37 - 39 are trying to break up step 40 into smaller parts to make it clearer what you're supposed to do, but I think it'd be easier to just do step 40 directly.
If step 37 is hard for you, you're gonna have a hell of a time with step 50, which I don't know of a good way to explain. If you're not understanding it, try putting the model down and coming back to it in a day or two-- I find that often helps when I can't figure something out.
