Help with goliat

Post by klickme »

Here's the diagram:
http://www.origamichile.cl/gui/diagrama ... _Sirgo.pdf

I am trying to fold the steps from 1 to 7, but I don't understand step 8.

Could someone please give me some hints?

Here is my work:

You have to free the paper you´ve folded to the middle in the beginning and refold it on the existing crease lines. It´s a little bit tricky but doable.
The finished result (after making the little petal folds) is known as blintzed frogbase and is a very good starting point for creating your own models :)
You can find an alternative folding method here: http://www.angelfire.com/co/cubo/Bfbase.html
(Thanks to Jorge E Jaramillo who posted this link on the mailing list)

There is no step 7 in the alternative blintzed frog base instructions....

What you have to do is this:
1. Fold these alternative instructions up to step 5 on all 4 sides.
2. Free the small triangle from underneath the top layer on all 4 sides (just pull it out)

When you have done that you should have the same as in step 13 of the Goliat diagrams and can continue from there. :)
So long and keep folding ^_^

Step 35: Open the flap in the middle, fold the top point down along the dotted horizontal line and squash the flap flat to resemble what you see in the next step. Make sure to use the reference points given for your folds.

Step 44: Rearrange the layers to resemble the structure of Step 45.
So long and keep folding ^_^

:?:  :?:
"4. Petal fold using the creases from steps 2 and 3. Close the flap. Repeat behind."

After step 3 you are left with a waterbomb base with some creases. Using the creases from the previous steps, you just do a petal fold. Lift the layer that is on top of the model and the petal should form itself (if your creases are firm enough). Then close the model and it should look like the instruction that does not have a number but is before #5

It might be that those details were left out of the diagram so that there aren't too many lines cluttering up the diagrams. From what I see they should be there but I would have to fold the model to be sure.
