Origami Box

Post by saj »

Hi guys,

A couple of years ago fabricorigami.com offered free diagrams of many Origami boxes, including a beautiful flower box, seen below:

Regretably I lost my personal copy of the diagrams, and the site no longer offers diagrams for this box. I wondered whether anyone might still have copies of this diagram, or know anywhere where the diagrams can be purchased.

Thanks,

Saj

Thank you! Does this diagram appear in any of Toshie Takahama's books? I've got one of her books but Joyful Origami Boxes has been out of stock at Amazon.co.uk/ .com for quite a while.

Diagrams for this box must be purchased?
If not, where to get it?
If yes, then... er... no money for now! :?
May the shwartz be with you! ;)

I don´t know if they are still available somewhere, haven´t seen them anywhere since fabricorigami.com deleted them from their site.

That's a shame, I think that is one of the most original Origami Boxes I have seen. I thought that the reason why the diagrams were removed from the site was because they were essentially redrawn copies from Toshie's books?

What a surprise, using http://www.archive.org/web/web.php , I found some old versions of the site complete with diagrams.

According to some of the diagrams I looked at on this webarchive-site those models are from different books by Tomoko Fuse.
Maybe copyright issues were the reason for removing the diagrams from the site.

Interestingly enough somewhen during the development of the fabric origami site the reference to Tomoko Fuse was removed from the diagrams:
(http://www.archive.org can be quite interesting )

Just compare those two versions of the same diagrams:
from year 2000
from year 2003

I wonder whether Origami Gift Boxes is still in print, as I can't seem to find the title available in print (as least not on a UK site).

Trusty find on Archive.org

Edit
D'oh! Origami Database shows the cover page of the book; might suggest it is not available in print in English.

Kim's Crane is still selling the book: http://kimscrane.com/catalog/product_in ... ts_id=1832

Only problem might be their International Shipping Policy... you would have to order a minimum value of 50$....
Since the book is still available you might be able to get it somewhere else though :)

the viereck-verlag also sells it

http://www.viereck-verlag.de/buecher/gift%20boxes.html

sadly it's not available right now and a new date of availability (term?) is not certan. but at least she's not saying that it's out of print. so you probably should contact her to ask for it. and because it's germany, the shipping fees shouldn't bee too expensive.
oh, here's the contact page: http://www.viereck-verlag.de/kontakt.html
