Is it me or is step 29 in the fold wrong? i was under the impression that the structure should be single and continuous but folding it like that would render that impossible.

This photodiagram was made by the woman from the Russian forum if you have questions-address to she on Rus forum , she knows English... Yes, too she fold, in addition to a rose

Don't worry-this is very very hard-I couldn't do the shaping, and you are certainly not alone. Don't get too frustrated it and come back to it in a year or two-you will be surprised how much your abilities grow.

It'e been quite a while since I've been around here, but I thought I would share the result of my first successful attempt at this rose (or any CP for that matter). It's from a piece of standard US copy paper (8.5" x 8.5").

I highly reccomend perrosaurio's guide to anyone struggling with this rose. I also discovered something rather interesting about this rose, during the initial creasing of the CP (before collapsing), if the 1/11th divisions aren't 100% perfect, the rose will still turn out looking pretty decent. My 11ths weren't that good, but I think it came out pretty good for my first attempt.

I felt like I'd reached a real landmark when I finally got the kawasaki rose sorted. It's the first time I really felt like I had some aptitude for origami.

I can't stop doing them! 2 yesterday, but they where for the missus.

Hi, thanks for comment pitboss

I've been quite busy with the edition of the chilean Convention Book (tip: look for it) so it took me a while to review this model. In fact, /11's doesn't turn perfect with my method of the 20 deg fold from the bottom, specially for bigger papers, since they come from an aproximation :? Now I know ways to achieve arbitrary divisions through the usage of the Haga theorems and probably will write a new version of the doc.

Still, I finally faced Lang's suggestion to fold a "simpler" version of the Rose, called by him the "Junior Miura-Ken Rose", with less petals and different divisions (based on /54s) and /9s to the verticals. Here one result:

woo! yes i finally did it! joisel's dwarf was a breeze compared to this cp.

Now just to get it shaped pretty... shaping is A LOT harder than i would have imagined. Nothing like shaping a kawasaki rose where you simply curl the edge and all the petals are easily accesible.

Finally did it. And it is my first model from cp. Really pretty but I'm a hard core-fan of the Kawasaky rose.

Yay congrats! Yeah, I still favor the new kawasaki over this and I think kawasaki is easier since you don't have such complex shaping but this rose is pretty and it is nice to have a change every now and then :) Post pics!!
