My third attempt with 15cm x 15cm Japanese foil:
I used a different folding sequence for getting the same reference point mentioned above:
This worked better since the point is closer to where it is supposed to be.

I have found a way to make all the creases, using Daydreamer´s reference point and a reference line that I found usint ReferenceFinder. I will post the method later.

This looks exactly like what I got, now you just need to form it into a rose

But above Mr Lang said that only the bottom ring should lie flat, and with my attempt the whole thing seems to lie flat.

The thing is, that due to the allowance paper gives you, you can flatten this base, which doesn't really matter since you have to twist the whole thing into a rose-form which definitely is not flat in the end.

One last thing, are these two flaps supposed to be separated?

Hmmm... I don't know exactly what you mean right now, I probably would have to fold it again to see...
But I guess in the end it doesn't really matter if you have some petals less

How much do you twist the rose after collapsing?

Now that's a really hard question because.... I don't know really
I just twist a bit here and a bit there and at some point during this process (maybe you have to get the right petal to pull) the rose suddenly curls itself up into a very rose-like form.
Sorry about the vagueness but I don't know how to explain it better....

I folded this rose using tissue foil:

Very nicely done
Would be interesting to see your method for getting the creaselines.
I'm too lazy to post my method at the moment as I would need to take several pictures or alternatively draw them. A text-only description would be too complicated even though the concept behind it is simple.
I made it!!!!
