Brian Chan Hermit Crab (V2)

Post by Maorigami »

What's up y'all,

I've been wondering if any of you out there know how to fold the shell for Brian's second hermit crab.
I've folded the base, which gives me a cluster of points for the body and a large corner flap for the shell.
Any tips on how to fold it (it resembles kawasaki's spiral shell) would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, I think I solved it.
After folding the base, you have to outside reverse fold the large corner flap to color change it, then fold a bird base out of the resulting square. The body of the crab is what got me confused at first, but it turns out you can just twist it out of the way.

The shell part came from Kawasaki's Spiral Snail Shell.
You can find the diagrams for that in Origami for the Connoisseur.

Folding can get a bit tricky since the crab part is grafted onto two edges of the square that comprises the Spiral Snail Shell. But once you've collapse the snail shell to its base, it's pretty straightforward.
