Hello. This is the diagram I am trying to follow.
http://www.papercrane.org/articles/gare ... ist001.pdf

I don't understand how to do an open sink fold (step 28) with that shape and can't find any instructions for doing that fold on anything except a water balloon base. If anybody could help I'd appreciate it.

Have you seen this video? Its on a waterbomb base but it is really the same concept. Just push in the point along the outer edges of the fold.

I did see that video and I can do it on that base, but I can't get things to fold quite right when it's a triangular shape that has other layers. It's alright though.

The important part of an open sink is that the layers in the sink are free, like how a waterbomb with an open-sunk top still has 4 free flaps that aren't locked in the sink. The layers touching each other in the sink or aligning is not important, only that the sunk tip is inside the flap and that the layers are not locking.
