well, my 16 cm wrapping paper resulted on a really small something
final details as the legs requires a much large paper, I think foil paper is too thick but you need a paper thtat keeps very well folds in time and that means dryness, looks to me like washi is the best option, but saying washi is to say a lot of diferent possible papers, just look for one not too thick and not too soft to the touch, because that means humidity, but also not too low grammage because it will tear easily.
good luck and patience

I disagree that it's a waste of time with tissue foil. I rather thought I had a couple of decent counterexamples.MrBluePie wrote:I just attempted this using my own tissue foil, and let's say, don't waste your time with the tissue foil. All of the precreasing was completely useless cause by the time I started folding, all of the creases I needed were pressed out from other creases. Spent an hour on that thing too
Tissue foil -- the best thing since sliced bread.

Thanks! That was my second try with this model, but I'm going to fold it from origamido in the future.

Re: Ancient Dragon
Use whatever paper you have available. I've folded this model from a square of printer paper (21.5cm), and if a crappy piece of paper like that can turn out a definitive dragon, use what you can. As for a good looking, lasting model from cheap paper, grab some methylcellulose and make double tissue from it, or if you actually have paper resources at your disposal, use something better.
