Hmm... sounds familiar. I'm Ethan. I'm pretty sure you taught the rose, and we were both in the cockatrice class.

Okay, cool. I have a project due tomorrow, so I can't reply too often. I also haven't been doing too much origami recently, as I said in my Flickr. College prep schools... they don't give you lots of spare time. I have also tried some things, but couldn't figure out how to get one thing or the other in. For example, I made a nearly perfect seal, but I could not for my life figure out the face. In short, I have a bad case of folder's block...

P.S.: Thanks for the info Baltorigamist!
Actually, I don't know what any of those mean! I'm used to collapsing an irregular base and playing with flaps until i have the desired shape or i am bored.

I had another go at the nidoran cp. I ended up with.......

Wait for it.......

A Nidoran minus its' front legs. There were no flaps whatsoever, it took ages but eventually i gave up and stuck with a nidoran with a handicap sitting down.

I'm folding my first crease pattern (because I saw so many cool models with only CPs and no Diagrams :| ), Kei Takeuchi's Butterfly. It seems to be unpopular because it has few results in google search. Anyways, the edges are box pleats, but in the center, I have a network of lines that kind of look like this:

+++++
+++++

basically, its a bunch of intersecting lines (some of them are at quite random intervals, and some are squares. The lines that go from left to right seem to be equally distanced, but the ones that go from top to bottom are much more diversely spaced).
The question is: How do you fold these, and what do they look like?

Thanks!

In the finished model, where does that section of the crease pattern end up?

The entire body is composed of that, along with some box pleats

Ah. I'm not the best person to help you but i'll try. Could you please post a labelled picture of a finished model, pointing to where this ends up? Sounds silly but i'm a beginner at cps, so i have no idea how to tackle something this complicated.
Attempting fibonacci box cp, is the starting paper square for this model, or is it the way it was accidentally printed (ashampoo photo commander, sounds silly? It was the only thing that could load quickly).

Not to be annoying and contradict you, but some models you will need many references.
I tried some Pokemon origami a while ago. Some are pretty easy, while others get quite annoying... Satoshi Kamiya's Phoenix is actually not too hard if you understand box-pleating. I also did a few modified cranes i found somewhere, which were basically an introduction to box-pleating for me. I'll have to get on my old, slow laptop and sift through files.

Sorry, I went on a photography trip for 2 weeks, and there was no internet there.
Here is the CP of the butterfly I am trying to fold. My second (or third) CP.
I bought Robert Lang's book Origami Design Secrets, and it should be coming next week. I think it has some tips on folding CPs.

You can use google images to find the fibonnacci cp. I can't post pictures on my phone.
Robert lang is good. His book will have crease patterning in it.
