Huh?!! I guess you meant folding in fifths, followed by folding the kite base, lots of pleating and then sinking. I'm not good with CPs myself, but I would recommend that you print the pattern out and fold along the lines. The CP only provides the means to get to the model base, after which it is a matter of personal experience in order to 'reverse engineer' the final details from the final photo.

A good place to start learning CPs is Ben Ball's Website and Eileen CP Guide. Truthfully, I've never quite understood CPs, but of course don't let this discourage you!

You could try folding Nicolas Terry's Dragonfly when you're confident enough to start CPs, and then progress to some harder models, such as the lizard you mentioned.

yes...perhabs i should fold easier models crease pattern first but i prefer to fold difficult things
like the tarantula or scorpion of robert lang or gecko and fly on a wall but this model of lizard i found very intresting
i only dont know how i found out what has to be mountain or valley folds
i´ve tried first the kite but i think theres a problem with symmetry of the crease lines isn´t it?
i think it has a little bit of robert langs tarantula which is zig zag folded at the legs
i think the tail of the lizard and its legs are zig zag folded too but my main problem is the head and front legs of the lizard
do you know how i could fold this????i´ve no idea.... :? :?
thanks

Hi!

I'm very pleased to see that you took interest in my model.

Here are some clues:

1. Of course start from dividing side of the square into fifths.
2. Fold a diagonal
3. make a crease from 2/5 of the side to the corner
4. Make two more creases at the same angle as the one between diagonal and the crease from position 3.
5. At the end you get very narrow wedge of paper which is actually useless. You can fold it inside the model or simply cut off.
6. Then make rabbit ears to get the legs
7. Make multiple sinks along the lines. The top of the lizard has to be flatten to form the back.

As for the collar and the head it is very difficult to describe it in words. Try to figure it out using the lines and looking at the picture of finished model.

The CP doesn't describe how to make the toes. They are made in the same way as in case of David Derudas' Ranoshi frog.

Here's the link to diagram of the frog:

I hope I was helpful.
