Is it bad, yes, to someone. People will complain if you breathe. But we can't worry about such opinions beyond our own critical thinking, there just isnt enough time.

Is it illegal if you make one and don't tell anyone, only if you're caught. Should you ask first, sure, if you feel the need. Consider it a common courtesy, mayhap boosting his ego will make for a fair exchange when requesting permission, such a query should flatter any artist.

Hmm.. I have been totally ignorant about these copyright laws. Thanks for the imformation! I think I will just take pictures of my own models for my shirt , so I don't do anything stupid without realizing it. This way I will , as thedeadsmellbad says, " boost my own ego" and be legal at the same time :lol: .
