Why did I try the "harder challenge" :'(

I'll photo it if I finish, but it's probably gonna look like a squished lump of kami mess

EDIT: Paper too thick to make the model, Paul too thick to make the model, butterfly looks like the front half of a dragonfly (and a squished kami mess).

EDIT 2: I tried this with tissue paper (single, no mc) and it worked o.k.ish, but I found it pretty much impossible to get the shape nice for any length of time, so into the recycling it went.

I know this thread is old, but I'd appreciate is if someone can help. On step 45, it says to pull out a single layer. Then on step 46 it says to pull a single edge out from the inside, but the edge is connected to the layer pulled out in step 45.

How is this possible?

Step 46 is pretty similar to step 45: you have to flatten the inner part and this is the "pulling out" part. If you managed 45, 46 is not much harder.

Can someone help me with step 28? it seems easy but I think I'm doing something wrong because when I get in step 36 it's not very similar.

It's basically a series of open sinks, except that the layers at the top are locked together. Beyond that, just make sure you're doing 29-35 correctly.

That layer at the top is impossible to fold like open sink, i think i did something wrong before that step.
is it supposed to be like that?

yes, that's correct. there is no easy way to do these open sinks. you just have to carefully work the paper in and out.
