Does anyone know how to cleanly collapse the abdomen area of the wasp?

Collapsing each part of the crease pattern might help.

Here is my attempts of each part, due to copyright issue, I'll just blur out the cp, its just for indicating the location of each part.

I've tried a couple times to figure that out, but I usually just print it out the size that I need it to be and then trace it onto whatever paper I'm using.

:? i don't have a big printer. I was thinking of seeing what number grid is on and go on from there, but i can't seem to count it properly. :shock:

The first thing I did, was to find reference points. For the collapsing, I'm still not "good enough"...

Here's how I did it:

Connect a corner with 5/8-point of adjacent side. now intersection of this crease and square diagonal is a ref-point. One "grid unit" of the final CP is 1/6 of the distance between this ref-point and the middle of the square.

All the other creases can be done based on the grid.

That is the way to find out thirteenths using haga's theorem. So, I think that is thirteenths. :D

Yes, sorry I didn't mention that... one "unit" is actually 1/13 of the quarter of the diagonal. In other words, the length of the whole diagonal is 13x4 = 52 of those units. So, if you're drawing the CP, you can also measure the length of the diagonal, and then divide it by 52. But if you are going to find the references by folding, then it's of course much more easier to use that method I showed earlier (cause it's easier to divide something to 6 parts than to 13 parts).

Well, knowing this isn't going to help me to collapse the base though... It's quite hard because of the pleats in the abdomen.

What do you mean "vertical"?

The length of the square digonal is √2 times the length of the side, so you can count it yourself (If this is what you ment)...

Or draw it - you can understand it much better...
