I need help with the magic rings, how do you get the paper to get to fold into part of the rectangle (ring)? all I get is one long rectangle box.

You need to use the diagonal precreases to get the tubes to bend into the U shape. Try folding the diagonal creases at the same time that you wrap the paper round into the tube shape. I don't know how to describe this in any more detail with mere puny words, sorry.
