I was wondering if anyone tried to do Michael's Cattleya Orchid?
I was trying to fold it but somehow it doesnt look like the orchid he was folding.
Anyone can assist me here?
thanks,

I am currently stuck at the following steps:
from step 26 - 27
and from
steps 30 -31 (left side)
31 - 32 (left side)
can someone point me out here? maybe also fold it and make a picture.
I have the book, but I still cannot figure it out by the drawings. I think a real picture would be better.
In step 26, think of it like you're doing a rabbit-ear on the central portion-- and the rest of the flap is just coming along for the ride.
Step 30 may look kind of like a reverse-fold, but it's actually a squash fold on the left side.
Step 31 on the left side may be a bit difficult-- basically you want to wrap the edge around to the other side. Think of it kind of like turning a sock inside out-- reach in and push the point in first, then pull/push it through while sliding the front layer around do the back. This maneuver is similar to the traditional sampan: http://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-sampan.html
I should add that no matter what you do, yours will probably not look much like the photo shown in the book; Micheal Lafosse is a fantastic folder, and he makes paper that is suited to the needs of each sculpture. When I folded this model, I pretty much ignored steps 44-48 entirely, because the paper I was using couldn't handle it.
thanks for the advise. I will try what you just said...and hopefully it will looks like that more or less and yeah..I know it is difficult to redo the orchid looking like Lafosse's and it depends very much on the paper.
well i don't know what I've done wrong, but i am stuck on step 22 - i can't seem to pull the full flap down - there seems to be something stuck there....has anyone encountered this problem and let me know where i've gone wrong?
I remember that step...and basically...I skipped that step. I believe that step is to create the pre-lines for steps steps 24-25.
I am still not able to complete that Model..but I contact Mr. Lafosse for help..and he did reply me with a personal written instructions for the steps I was having my problems. I will try to solve it..and lets see if I succeed.
Currently I am busy to complete the rose...afterwords I will focuse on the orchid.
It's simply incredible. I cannot comprehend how he managed to shape the orchid base into something this realistic. I recently folded this model as well, and I don't even truly understand how to make the leaves so big and beautiful. Perhaps I'll try to fold it again, with better paper, soon.
I am currently folding it too...but far from his results
maybe we can support eachother. Furtunately, I am in contact with Mr. Lafosse via Email. He is very nice and trying to help me out....but he seems to be very busy as well....
if you succeeded somehow...please post some pictures online okie
