Help with Jason Ku's Fairy

Has anyone folded this, my favourite winged model ever!

http://scripts.mit.edu/~jasonku/index.p ... del=fairy1

I have drawn the crease patten onto a piece of paper folded into 48x48 square grid. (I have drawn the CP on the right at the bottom of the page onto the grid).

I'm trying to collapse the pattern and cant work out how. My fist attempts was to fold down the centre line, and made some 'water-bomb' bases but that seemed wrong. So can anyone help?

Am I asking to much in posting for help on this one?

Mkay it's in thirds. That means whatever grid that was used is a multiple of three.

I tried before, and got 48x48

All the bars add up to 16. Multiply that by three, and you do get 48.
The rest is just grid placement and diagonal arrangement.

Collapsing it I'm having major problems with as well though. Heck, from the design it's hard to tell what's what in the completed model.

I have it on a 48x48 grid, it took me a while to work that out so thanks for your help. I'm having the same problem working out what bits are what part of the finished model. But it is still fun puzzling it out, I think its the puzzle element of CP's that I like.

If I make any progress I'll try and post.

Jason thank you so much for your helpful Diagram. I should now have all the information I need to fold this wonderful model.

Having said that any more tips would be appreciated.

Yours With respect

If you do manage that, can you show the back too if you think you got it right?

Along with maybe the base? I can never work directly with just crease pattern and finished model from one angle Dx

Hi again, well I thought I'd be done by now but I haven't even got close Any hints?

I will try and post a picture showing how bad my attempt at collapsing is.

I will post a picture as soon as one of my kids will let me take one with their phone!

I am giving up tiring to collapse this model until I have some paper bigger than 15cmX15cm

UPDATE - I now have some big paper and when I get time I'm going to give this another go. I will make this model!

and Jason, is that a kind of packing you use(like SP in box-pleating)?
