Hideo Komatsu´s Mouse - Looking for Pictures of the model

Post by esato »

Hi.

I´ve managed to fold the base of Hideo Komatsu´s mouse. I got the CP from the yahoo group "Origami Patrones" but now I need some pictures of the finished model, so that I can add the final touches/finishing. Can anybody help?

I read somewhere that that CP and pictures used to be on Komatsu´s own webside, together with the other models. But I could not find it there.

Thanks in advance.

oh yeah, btw, thx for reminding me of that model
I actually wanted to fold it some time ago and never got around to do it and finally forgot about it.
But now I finally did it. :D

The creasepattern is actually quite easy to fold if you don't mind having to do thirds of angles....

Here's my result:

Daydreamer, the mouse you folded looks really nice !

I folded from the CP, but I cheated: I printed the CP.

How did you find the landmarks to make the main creases ?

I also printed the creasepattern for my first try to find the landmarks.
I will try to give you the main points I use as reference.

I removed some of the creases because most of them will be created when you try to collapse the model in the end. Only the ones you need to find the landmarks are displayed. Also the creases on the tail are not really necessary since they are only some crimpfolds to bring the tail in the right position in the end so I dropped those as well.

I start by folding the model in half along the diagonal (1-2).
Then I separate the angle at point 2 into thirds (by eye-measure, it works quite well)
Then the angle at point 3 needs to separated into thirds as well.

This way you will get the the intersection point 4.

The line from 4-5 has a 45° angle to the side line.

At point 6 you again have 30° angles, but since you already have the crease 2-6 those are easy to make.

Then if you fold the model at the 2-6 crease and then make the 5-7 crease at 90° angle to the edge you should have all the landmarks you need.

I know this all sounds very, very confusing, but I didn't know any better way to describe it. Hope I was able to help a bit :)

So long and keep folding ^_^

Daydreamer, I have followed your instruntions and I was able to fold the mouse without having to print the CP out :)

I would like to add something though: instead of having to measure by eye those 30 degrees angles, I suggest using the method described on this page: http://www.origami.gr.jp/People/CAGE_/divide/04-e.html

Thx for that link, I didn't realize that dividing an angle into thirds is that easy.

Btw, a picture of your finished model would be nice to see
