look at the orientation of the folds in the diagram very carefully. this move is is almost like a rabbit ear but your using only the top layer to make the fold. its actually like a preliminary base that you collapse. i hope this helps some. dont let people get you down or discourage you from trying complex models, especially people that havent even folded the model. this is a great model and after a few tries you should feel comfortable with the folds enough to complete the model. suggestion though, use big paper, like at least 35-35 or 40-40 to comfortably fold the antlers. good luck!

Thank you, and I hate people like that, too.

I did stop the one I was working with. During the precreasing I messed up and it didn't show what was in the book. I am also looking for larger paper.

Know any craft stores or someplace I could go to get big origami paper (really big) in the USA? (not online)

so lately ive been using tracing paper(because i cant afford much else) and if you have a local Michaels of jo-anne fabrics or some art supply store they should carry pads of tracing paper in various sizes. i purchased a pad of tracing paper for 20 bucks that was sheets about 40-40 in size and about 100 sheets. the paper, while not ideal for super complex models is still good enough to fold with. for my bull moose i actually used brown kraft paper which can be obtained from your local wal-mart or target or some similar store. the kraft was a little thick but big enough to fold this complex model. pretty much everywhere ive been that sells origami paper only sells paper in little 10-10 squares, and most of the time that paper sucks anyway cause its just too thick and crappy. its made for really traditional origami, kind of like macdonalds fast food origami. its mass produced and.....oh well i digress and am getting off topic. point is, you dont necessarily need the best paper to fold most models. im poor as hell and i manage to find stuff. lately ive been attempting to make my own paper using MC and tissue paper. so far so good! good luck!

so i remember trying to describe this step to someone else. they key is to remember you are working with only the top layer. you are going to collapse a simple preliminary base, then rabbit ear the top to collapse flat. this move forms the base of the antlers. just squash fold the sides of the flap together, fold down the top part of the flap, and flatten. its really more complicated to describe than to actually perform. good luck!

I was again folding the bull moose and saw something odd in the diagrams.
The result in the photos that debugmode posted are different from the result in the diagram (ods1). So is there a mistake in the diagram or in the folding of debugmode? Just wondering :)
