it doesn't take too much for this piece, i think. i've only solved a few CPs, but this one i was able to fold correctly the first time i did it

It is easy enough. Getting the legs the right length, and both the same length caused a lot of trouble on my first draft though.

Bringing back an old topic!
Trouble, i love that little man clip you used in the photodiagrams, and thank you so much for making them.

That said, my 2nd year anniversary of joining this site is coming up, and i'd like to fold this model... with a twist.

I'm going to graft together the 1.2 body with a 3.5 head to make the (drumroll) Ryujin 1.2.3.5! I think I'll need a strip graft along the edges to get the necessary paper, but I'll work it out.

First I need to fold a 1.2 just to get the idea of collapsing it though... I'll do it tomorrow. It's late.

It'll be be extremely hard, even impossible to graft a box- pleated head to a box-pleated body at 45 degrees...

The horizontal and vertical pleats of the 3.5 head are only because the body is pleated that way. They can be skipped and the head started at the 45 degree box pleating. I've tested it.

I've nearly finished the graft. I just need to add a strip graft around the top and left edges of the crease pattern for the mustache, and also for the 2 long horns. I'll post pictures and a cp on the 26th. (I should be done by then)

Quick question. How do shape the tail where the pythagorean stretch is?
