Jellyfish (lantern)

Post by Daphne Holland »

Hello fellow origami friends,

I would love to surprise my husband with a couple of giant jellyfish, hanging from the attic ceiling (it is his 'mancave' and he is a big deepsea nerd).

I saw this amazing lantern on the following website:
https://www.abeltosh.com/wonen/verlicht ... dusa-lamp/

And I was wondering whether anyone can help me to try to recreate this design. Especially knowing how to do the 'half dome' model of this specific jellyfish model, would be a great start to try to create my own jellyfish.

Thanks you guys very much,
Daphne from Holland

Hi Daphne. There's a big possibility that those actually aren't origami, even though the webpage mentions the word. It could be instead be cut and glued paper to form the half-spheres. Maybe you can look for how to cut and glue a dodecahedron or an icosahedron, and after that, try making just half of one.
