Looking for an Insect intermediate

Post by roodborst »

Hi. I finally managed to make some good triple tissue. It is all black. Now I want to fold some creepy insect but I'm not so sure what too fold. I'm not very good at box pleating or making sinks, can't fold from cp either. So I'm looking for an insect, (high) intermediate difficulty that looks nice and can be folded from a 30cm square of triple tissue. I made 5 squares so can I mess up a few times.
I have been looking at cockroaches, stag beetles and longhorn beetles so far. Any suggestions are welcome.

Triple tissue is a little bit thick for most insects, especially in 30 cm squares.

You might want to try Riccardo Foschi's Atlas Beetle and Samurai Helmet Beetle.

Are you sure you want to make insects out of it, though? Sounds like those papers are better suited for Komatsu's/Hagiwara's/Miyajima's models, Koh's Rabbit, or Shuki Kato's Simple Dragon ;)

My newest Euthysanius Beetle might fit what you're looking for. The model and CP are on my Flickr.

Indeed. Did try foschi's beetle. Halfway through I remembered folding it before. I'm afraid malleon was right and that triple tissue might be too thick too fold a decent insect.

My bad, I somehow missed that earlier.
Would photodiagrams help?

If you are willing to make them I'm willing too try. If it is not required too fold the entire cp first and then collapse it?

It pretty much is, but the collapsing process is pretty straightforward.
