Hello all,

can you suggest any origami which converts translational to rotational movement?

Just for sake of playing along, there’s Jeremy Shafer’s “flasher” models. I remember seeing one spin like a top after it re-collapsed itself.
After the fall, we rise.

Thanks Baltorigamist.
Do you know a cylindrical version of this kind of origami?

Specifically, I'm looking for sth to combine with Kresling pattern. As you know, Kresling pattern is a rotational origami, so I want to rotate the kresling origami with a translational movement.

On the contrary, the question seemed very generic to me with a random "origami" put in to make it look on topic. This is how a typical Spam post looks like and after approval the words "translational" and "rotational" would be replaced with links to some shop selling whatever kind of things related to those words.

But I like to be proven wrong.

So I guess the kind of things you are searching for are models like Jeff Beynon's Spring into Action or Tomoko Fuse's Pako Pako, right?

I'm still not convinced. Sounds like trolling to me.

I'm currently using Kreling pattern (triangulated cylindrical origami) which is similar to Pako Pako, and it is a rotational mechanism. I need to connect another cylindrical origami to it to do the rotation with translational input to the transverse direction.
For example, when Jeff Beynon's spring is being pushed in the transverse direction, it pops out in the perpendicular direction which the behavior that I'm looking for, but I want sth with this behavior when sides of the paper glued together like Pako Pako.
