Is this really Hideo Komatsu's minotaur?

Post by Brimstone »

Years ago I found a page that had many Oripa files and among them there was one called "Komatsu Minotaur". I've searched the web for a minotaur designed by Hideo Komatsu and I haven't been able to find it so it might be a mistake by whoever named the file.

So could someone please identify this CP and folded base and confirm who it was created by?

I haven’t seen this CP before. It’s difficult to tell from the quality of the image, but it doesn’t look much like a minotaur to me. (I don’t see flaps for horns, for example.)
If there’s a way to get a higher-resolution image, I’d be interested.

Edit: is there any date on the image or site? The crease pattern is similar to my impression of Komatsu’s style, but I could be wrong.

The day from the file is from when I downloadedit so it doesn't tells us anything.

You're right about the lack of points for the minotaur details. Here's a better quality picture and if your interested PM me an email address that can receive attachments and I'll send it to you.

I showed the crease pattern to a Facebook friend of mine, and he said it was done to demonstrate Oripa’s capabilities. It’s not meant to be anything in particular as far as I know.

Well the model folded by Oripa (shown in my first picture) seems to have a lot of potential.
