Help folded sandwich packaging - study project

Hi,
I'am a student Industrial Design and currently working on a project for an airline to redesign the packaging for a small food serving. I have a concept, but it is not ideal. So I was hoping that you guys maybe know a better folding design.

I came up with a design made from paper for a small (3x6x8.5cm) sandwich. These are my requirements.
1) I want the user to be able to unfold the packaging flat, without tearing. In this way it can be used as a clean place to lay the food or as a napkin on the lap.
2) The packaging must be sealed airtight, so there should be no gaps. It is sealed using a heat seal that presses the paper together. This is done on a flat spot, like the end of a Snickers bar. On top of that I would like it to be sealed in one place, so the user can tear it open in one action and unfold it.

The design I found is the following:

But as you can see in the pictures below, it is not an efficient use of space, since the triangles are sticking out. Therefore I can't pack that much in the rectangular trolley in the airplane.

I hope you can help me out here! Especially since I only have a few days left.
Thanks, Nelson

There's a traditional model called the Masu box that I'm pretty sure you could modify somehow. It may not necessarily be easy to mass-produce them, but the box is essentially a rectangular prism.

Thanks, I found one that might work! That one is indeed more space efficient. But I am not sure if the sealing is possible on the edges of the box, or ideal. Maybe a pouch like solution is better in that aspect, I imagine. It is also easier to eat the sandwich without touching it from a pouch, that was what I liked about the first idea.

I found another design that is nearly perfect for me. It has some overlapping, but I think I can modify it.

Nelson, I suggest you study origami tatos, envelopes, and letter folds. For example, the boxlock letter fold might be of your interest. Now, please bear in mind that modern origami models are authored, unlike the paper cup you linked which is an ancient traditional model. So, for example, origami creators expect being asked for authorization in order for someone to use their design in a commercial context.

Hope this helps :).
