origamimasterjared, that sounds like the best suggestion yet. I think some folding should get done, not just suggesting.

Sorry the vidio is so dark. I need to rearrange my house to get better light. I will get a better lighted vesrion soon.Someday I will buy a real video camera. Right now I am using the vidio feature on my digital camera.

I am working on the "Slip and Stick" animal to go on top of the "Pull Toy"

More information about new model

Post by firstfold »

Thanks for the info on posting You Tube videos. I must also apologize for the terrible typing errors. I wanted to respond quickly and got in too much of a rush.

Here is a little extra information of the pull toy model.

1. The Jungle cat is a single square sheet model based on my highly modified version of the “Dog Baseâ€

Do you have diagrams for sears tower? I'm making a collection of origami towers so if you have diagrams for other towers could send me some?

The Sears Tower Model was five feet tall. It was constructed using my "slip and stick" methodology. In my construction method a "stick" square tube of paper that has an inner diagonal support and is folded from any size rectangular paper. For the actual model I used 8.5 inch by 11 inch card stock that is available in office suypply stores for report covers (one stick per sheet). I printed a simulated window patterns on the sticks and used 36 sticks for the bottom layer of the model. When folded each stick was about 10 inches and I used 7 nested sticks to create a building of the right proportions for base to height. Because of nesting, the height is less than 70 inches tall. The completed building used well over 200 sheets of 8.5 inch by 11 inch pages of card-stock.

However, the model could be constructed from just 9 sticks and enough slips to simulate the bands that appear on the building. If you could find large enough paper, the model could be as big as the strength of paper could support. Practically, anything over 12 feet (using only 9 sticks)would be pretty difficult to fold. With multiple sticks a much larger model is possible and is much stronger. The first time I went up the stairs with the 200+ stick model, I dropped it and it bounced on the carpet with the thud of a ream of paper and it remained together requiring just minor adjustmentrs in the slips. I never use glue but most of my structures are quite strong. The 200+ stick model was a prototype and from conception to copmpletion I spend over 40 hours. I made a 9 stick model of regular paper at about 11 inches tall and completed the model in less that 30 minutes.

I have taken apart the original model and am using the sticks in new models. After, all, "Slip and Stick" is a multi-use construction kit.
