My late introduction!

Post by kareshi »

I can't find evidence that I've introduced myself yet! So here goes...

My name is Daniel Brown, I live in Virginia USA.
I am 29 years old and have been doing origami since I was 5.

Only since 2010 have I attempted to design my own works (besides some small things here and there.)
I am pleased with the results of my design attempts, however I don't understand the circle/river concepts from Origami Design Secrets and I think I'd be able to make much more with a better understanding...

I would like to publish a book one day, in what form I don't yet know.
My biggest hurdle is complete noob-ness in vector graphics like Inkscape.

My favorite origami book is Origami Sea Life by Montroll and Lang.
My favorite model of all time is the blue shark from that book.
I own 35 origami books, this is after a yard sale at which I sold or donated 15-20 others.

My wife also does origami, though not at the same scale. We made 1400 Kawasaki roses for our own wedding in 2008.

My origami flickr is linked in my signature, you can keep up to date with what I'm making that way.

Non-Origami Interests:
Classical piano (I'm a piano instructor,) Poe, Shakespeare (can recite Hamlet from memory,) Stephen King, Rubik's Cubes and other rotational puzzles, the Jaws films, also the Halloweens and Friday the 13ths, James Bonds, Godzillas and Gameras, the Japanese language, hunting for fossil shark teeth, setting videogame world records, and have written a novel.

I think that's it.
