On Monday, February 23, right after Matsuri (Feb 21-22), those of us still
standing will gather for a folding workshop with Meenakski Mekuerji of
Cupertino, CA. She is the author of 2 books on kusadama (floral
balls). We will meet from 9AM to 4PM. I am uncertain of the cost of
the workshop and the lunch arrangements, but our past workshops of
this kind have been $40 per person.

The next meeting of the Arizona Origami Society will be in a NEW
LOCATION!! Our parking problem is solved, at least for the moment.
Bookman's Entertainment Exchange at 8034 N. 19th Avenue will host our
next two meetings, in their community room.
The location is in a shopping area at 19th Ave and Northern, North
West of the intersection. Very near to the I-17, very easy from SR 51.
We still meet from 1 PM to 4 PM. We have reserved 2 Saturdays, Feb 14
and March 21. We will not be allowed to ask for donations while at
this location.
As usual, everyone is welcome. If you are a child, you must bring an
adult. If you are an adult, you can bring anyone you wish. This
might be a good time for you to take a turn at teaching. Bring paper
to fold if you have some. Bookman's has offered to give us some paper
for newbies who show up without it.
We will be folding at all levels and a good time will be had by all.
If you have models to be included in the Matsuri Origami Exhibit, you
may find it convenient to turn them in to Linda and Kate at the
meeting on Feb 14. Otherwise you will need to bring it to the
upstairs conference room of the lath house at Heritage Square at noon
on Friday February 20.

10 yr old grandson interested in origami club
My grandson is very interested in the art of Origami. He had the opportunity to meet several people at the recent Matsuri Festival here in Phoenix.
If there are any clubs geared towards his age that would be great.

Hooray! There will be a meeting of the Arizona Origami Society from 1 PM to 4
PM on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Bookman's, in the back room.
As usual, everyone is invited, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Snapology, a slightly origamic technique for making geometric forms out of
ribbon, will be taught. There will be opportunity for other things to be taught
as well, so perhaps you will try your hand at teaching.
As usual, we will have big fun.

Dear Folding Friends,
Matsuri, Phoenix's world class Japanese festival, will be held on February 27 and 28, 2010 at Heritage and Science Park, 7th St and Monroe.
You will want to get involved. There will be an opportunity to exhibit your origami pieces, coordinated by Linda and Troy. We will need ever so many volunteer hours to monitor the exhibit, set it up, and take it down.
We will also need many volunteer teachers to share the joy of origami with the eager children at the festival.
After the festival, on March 1, we will have our traditional all-day origami workshop with our special friend June Sakamoto as the featured artist/teacher. As usual it will cost $40 per person and we need your committment as soon as you can give it so we know if we have enough participation to cover costs.
On February 13, we have our normal meeting at Bookman's. A great time to turn in your exhibit items, and sign up to volunteer. Doris is planning to teach Kusadama at the meeting. What would you like to teach?
What a happening group we are!
