Re: Upcoming and past Conventions
From June 10 to 12 there was a very nice Origami convention in the German city of Freising. The models displayed and taught had a nice variety of complexity and the overall atmosphere was very relaxed. To see some photos of the convention and the nearby Origami exhibit of some known Origami artists follow this link:

Re: Upcoming and past Conventions
Right now our paid registrations for CenterFold number 70. We should have the teaching website up pretty soon. We have a singular (and rather clever, if I do say so myself) way of doing our class schedule. We ask our teachers to supply us with digital photos of the work they want to teach, or the model itself so we can shoot it. This goes on the web, and we ask our registrants which model they want to learn, not to register for class, but to tell us their preference. We then apportion rooms based on the results.
This worked really well last year, in that no one was shut out of a class they wanted to take. Our biggest problem was we needed a sound system and some volunteers to assist in the bigger rooms, and those will be available this time out.
I sincerely hope to see you all there. I will be easy to spot, the guy frantically running around making certain that everything works.

As it's my first convention, I'm not sure what I should bring, though...
Re: Upcoming and past Conventions
You don't need to bring anything. We'll supply paper, a very clever set of diagrams by Sy Chen, even a T-shirt! You are welcome to bring models for display, we'll even have a space set aside for that purpose. You might want to bring some old clothes and try your hand at marbeling, suminagashi, or another of the messier paper crafts that will be taught at CenterFold. You can bring your favorite paper, maybe we won't have it. You might want to bring some cash, since Fine Art Supply will bring all sorts of paper, not to mention Paper Circle. We will have a number of other vendors as well.malachi wrote:I'm on it like a donkey on a waffle.Fluffy wrote:ill be attending centerfold 2011, anyone else here going?

Didn't know donkeys liked waffles. My little shi-tzus like them well enough. Then again, they act like they've never before eaten when confronted with anything other than dog food.
Re: Upcoming and past Conventions
Bring folded models, everyone wants to see what kind of models you like to fold. It is good to bring along a variety of paper because you can never know what you are going to fold and which paper will be best fitting, sure you can buy paper but who knows when the shop opens? A lot of money is also recommendable. The shops on conventions unlike other shops specialise on Origami stuff (how surprising, isn't it?)! Other things that are useful are a knife, metal ruler and cutting mat and if you use them folding tools (bonefolder, tweezers, toothpicks, ...). Oh well and something to take notes (pencil and inexpensive paper).
