Woah! It's been ages since I last checked back into this forum.
I'm glad to see that the number of folders in the Philippines are increasing!

Hello Filipino folders! Nice to see you guys here! :D
I believe I can do complex models now, but what I'm really lacking is the paper :(
All I have is Japanese paper, or tissue paper, if you will, I just stick two sheets of those together using wallpaper paste, and they seem to work well :D
But the paper I get is not big enough, do you guys know where to buy large sizes of Japanese paper? probably around 2 meters, I am currently preparing to make ryujin 3.5 :D

Hi,

Go to national bookstore and ask for Mahjong Paper.
it's a HUGE pad that is placed on top of mahjong table. Roughly 4ft x 4ft.

It's technically kraft paper.

One sheet is huge enough to allow you to fold most complex models without problems.

If your nearest NBS is out of stock, you can also get these from Chinatown in Binondo.

Hi, guys. I didn't find out until now that there have been a lot of replies to my original post. Anyway, after much searching, I still could not find Wynham marble/elephant hide, Tant, or any of the other types of paper recommended for complex models. That being said, I've found some workarounds. As the poster above said, Kraft paper, which is sold by Nicholas Terry on his website, is readily available here, either in rolls or as mahjong table sheet paper. Alternatively, you could create your own tissue foil by buying large rolls of aluminum foil at dollar stores (couldn't find it anywhere else) and sticking tissue paper (the one used for giftwrapping, not facial tissues  ) on either side using spray glue or wallpaper glue.

Canson Mi-teintes is also available at National Bookstore.

If anyone else has found better alternatives, please do share.

National Bookstore is now selling Kraft paper, the brand is veco and it doesn't really work well alone, but if you apply MC its such a great alternative! It's not visually pleasing to a lot of models but it's great if you don't want to spend too much on expensive paper. I think its less than 30 pesos and is incredibly large! its 80 by 80 cm and contains 5 sheets!

I have that Kraft paper in my stash but haven't really done much with it yet. I'll try it with MC.

I am also trying to look for VOG (Vietnam Origami Group) paper, aka Crumpled Paper. Apparently, it's just plain crumpled giftwrap paper from China and I'm not sure but I think I've seen it being sold here. I can't leave the house right now but when I'm able to, I plan to hit Divisoria and National Bookstore to check. Pretty sure we have that here somewhere.

I also tried folding with Hopia Tracing Paper, untreated. It didin't do well but I haven't tried applying MC. The problem is it's just a translucent white and doesn't work well with watercolor.
