Polish Origami Association - Paper Phantasies

Polish Origami Association – Paper Phantasies

I am glad to announce that a new polish origami association has been established! The full name of the organization is Polish Origami Association – Paper Phantasies, and it has been established as a result of initiative of www.origami.art.pl editorial staff during a meeting of over twenty origami enthusiasts in July. This decision was a direct reply for the lack of a similar organization meeting needs of growing group of origami enthusiasts. Apart from propagating the art of folding in Poland and integrating polish origami society, we are open and would like to make contacts with foreign origami enthusiasts, exchange experiences with them, learn and help polish designers come into being abroad.

We want to achieve all of that by fulfilling our statute goals (below):
- Popularizing Origami as an element of Japanese culture in Poland. It is our main goal, which so far has been successfully fulfilled by the website www.origami.art.pl. Origami is still an art rarely known in Poland, but the number of its enthusiasts is rapidly increasing – for those people we want to provide a backup of information and materials. In the future we hope to establish branches of the Association in many polish cities; organize meetings and workshops for both children and adults. Among our aims in that matter are also didactic classes for teachers and origami instructors.
- Helping people already familiar with Origami to develop their skills. We believe that learning and exchanging experiences and materials will be easier in the Association. The Association is also willing to help the designers in exhibiting their works on the Internet and in our publications. We will support the beginning designers.
- An important aim of our organization is publishing. At the beginning, we will regularly publish a bulletin with diagrams, photos of models and texts of mainly polish creators. In the future we want to publish books as well.
- We will further develop www.origami.art.pl website. We will still display a part of our work on the website, but the majority of it will be available only for the members of Association in the bulletin and on the website in the members section. We are interested in exchanging links, so please contact us if you are a webmaster of origami-related website.
- Cooperating with similar organizations around the world is another important aim of the Association. Our origami website seems to be very popular also among foreign origami enthusiasts. We hope that the Association will be granted with a similiar interest. Contacting foreign designers in order to learn and exchange experiences; inviting foreign origami instructors for classes in Poland and helping our members to go abroad in the same purpose; organizing exhibitions outside Poland – all these are aims of our Association.
- We offer a full membership for foreigners. Terms and conditions of the membership will be presented as soon as possible on our website.

We invite anyone interested to send his/her opinions on the subject and ideas for fulfilling statute aims. We are waiting for any materials you would like to share with us as well. Please contact me: piotrpluta@o2.pl; Piotr Pluta Dobrzynska 12, Czestochowa 42-200, Poland.

We have a lot of work ahead, but we hope that we will succeed also with your help.

*Terms and conditions of the membership, the amount of the members fee and the management frame will be published after the registration process of the Association is completed. Those who are interested in being a member of the Association – please be patient.
