CenterFold 2011
This year's edition of CenterFold will run from Aug 12 - 14 (Fri - Sun) 2011 in Columbus, Ohio at the The Ramada Plaza Hotel & Conference Center. Our guests this year will be Paul Jackson and Miri Golan of Israel, and Won Park, who we are bringing in from his home in Honolulu. Our web site is http://www.centerfoldconvention.com, from which you can register and sign up to teach classes or volunteer. Last year we had over 150 participants from all over the US and Canada; this year we've already had our first registrant from Holland. We had 75 classes taught in 2010, including paper marbling and suminagashi, which will be offered again this year. We have even more room this year, allowing us to add and on-site exhibit. We hope to see you all there!

Re: CenterFold 2011
We will accept payment on site, though we encourage you to register before hand (you save a few bucks, and we get an accurate idea of attendance). I just got my model back for our premium T-shirt, and it looks great (you can see the design at the CenterFold website, and I'll be wearing the thing at the Convention at NYC this weekend). I've just confirmed the travel with Paul and MIri.

Yes, indeed he will. I received an E-mail from him this morning, and need to book his travel.

Re: CenterFold 2011
The website for classes is now online, so you can sign up to teach models at CenterFold, which we hope you will do. Our system is a bit different than that to which you may be accustomed. We collect information on your model, its level of difficulty and how long it would take you to teach it. We also ask you to upload a photo of it. We post these and ask our attendees which they would like to learn. We then use these responses to select the rooms in which the models will be taught. More responses, bigger room. Worked like a charm last year.
Re: CenterFold 2011
Are those all the clases? Because none of won parks stuff is being teached

Re: CenterFold 2011
No, not all the classes are yet registered with CenterFold Central. We expect many more registrants if this year is anything similar to last. I have no doubt Won will teach stuff formally or informally, though I have not yet nailed that down with him.
Re: CenterFold 2011
Yeah, I had assumed it was only the start of the listing.Fluffy wrote:Are those all the clases? Because none of won parks stuff is being teached
A better question would be, is anyone interested in learning some fairly complex models? I am willing to teach, but I am not sure what people would be interested in.

Re: CenterFold 2011
I haven't done a chocobo in a really long time, but I suppose that's possible. I'll need to brush up on it.Fluffy wrote:satoshi kamiyas chocobo or jeremy shafers flasher hat. ppppppplllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssseeeeeeeeee
The flasher hat is also possible, but it takes me 3-4 hours just to fold one myself (most of that is precreasing). Have you done any other flashers before? It might be better for me to teach one or two of the simpler flashers, which should help you on your way to folding the hat.
Oh, and the hat takes a really huge square to make. Around 28 inches.

A good idea is to offer the class and see who shows up. Last year there were quite a few complex classes going on, indeed we've arranged the convention site to foster these smaller more intensive classes.

My problem is that there are a lot of models I could teach, more than would be reasonable to try...steingar wrote:A good idea is to offer the class and see who shows up. I do have a related question, though. Is it possible to request that attendees of a session precrease paper before the session (at least partly)? I ask because I am a big fan of tessellations, but precreasing the grid is sometimes more than half of the time it takes to fold one.
