I'm curious - why the sudden rush of people folding this particular model? Has there just been a CP released or something?

Yeah, that link everyone keeps posting is useless. It's a bunch of images of finished models at a convention. I don't see anything like photos of the octopus or anything...

I truly believe the ability of the ppl to reverse-engineering any model, but I was thinkin' the same: something weird is goin on here :|

Not so much envy as much as just misdirection or bald face lying. There is no way anyone reverse engineered this from one poor photograph. Someone must have a CP or something that they don't care to share.

Of course I am envious - regardless of what they were based on, they are nice folds. But like I said I am also curious - the photos are from 2004, so I presume that there is some additional reason why several people have decided to fold this model within a few days of each other. That's all I was asking.

I reverse engineered that model, based on these pictures, and shared the cp I draw with few people, who (not all of them) shared it further, so that's why so many people are NOW folding that model, and the main reason why is that it is KAMIYA's model (so I think)

Cool - nice job reverse engineering Kafar! Impressive to pick up those few clues from some blurry pictures.
