Thanks for your help Mixmastermarc16, and for replying so soon!

Oh, and orislater, I think you're talking about the Origami Russian Olympiad. They had the older version (7. something) of Jason Ku's Nazgul as one of the folding challenges in Russian. It's a really great fold as well, though the legs are formed more sturdily than 8.1, in my opinion.

If you use Tant, the model should stand up on its own :)

Would tissue foil be appropriate for this model? If so, what might be a good size? Thanks for any help.

Like I said in a previous post, try for Tant. It's sturdier, plus it's much easier to find in black :)

Yes, I used Tant as well. I wet folded my model because Tant can be a little thick and brittle sometimes. The final model turned out looking nice and it stood up on its own.

Tissue foil would not be a good idea because it wouldn't stand on it's own; It's front legs wouldn't be able to stand the weight. I used kraft paper, and it turned out pretty well though if that's what you like. Tant's great too though if you have it on hand.

Any diagrams that SK hasn't put up on his site is probably illegal. Just to let you know.

what I did is as follows:
- you can´t get the result of step 27 only by following the instructions of step 25
- therefore you need the "crease pattern" of step 26
- you can´t precrease the model only following step 25
- therefore I opened the model a little bit
- to make the creases necessary, like shown in step 26
- you do have some reference points for the creases - and I used a ruler for making the precreases
- and then everything fell into place

Thank, franz. I didn't notice those small white and black dots.

I folded this model using triple tissue, and it stood up fine on its own! so it is possible to fold this model using fairly thin paper; however i cannot attest to the properties of foil, since i dont use it. folding it is possible, and the final result was quite satisfactory (at least to me)

@tryingtofoldsumthing -- that's fantastic--it's very surprising that the thinness of the two front limbs didn't cause a balance issue.
I folded mine out of black kraft--first fold:
