And that is because you didn't use an over-sized piece of paper. Use something like kraft or parcel paper which is cheap and giant.

i actually have a paper which looks like kraft but i am not sure whether it is! it has a transparent film like thing on back with some horizontal lines

yeah its inexpensive, its side is 37.5 cm, i purchased it in a roll

So at least we know it is plausible to fold it from that size. You can try it, but really if you still can't do it, I suggest doing simpler CPs before your next attempt. Sometimes it's just the fact that you aren't there yet, and you just need to fold a few more things before you understand how to collapse a model.
