The pictures seem to be fine now...no idea what went wrong.
Another good news....I checked on Nguyen Hung Cuong's flickr account and saw he has some pictures of particular steps for the eagle. Very helpful!

There's only one picture that shows up completely, from all the others only the top part is showing. That's not fine for me.

ok...good to know it works :-)

Now I am stucked again at the next steps...

currently folding step 60 to 61..
is it right that after step 60, it looks like that?

(please disregard the red lines...it was for me to have better orientation..but it seems as if my pre-creasing were not that fine :P )

close look for the upper part:

Hope I am still on track...

Ok, so i did this model again and failed again :(
I ruined it in the spread sinks.
Now i am going to try again and i need a piece of starting advice. How will this model fold out ( no pun intended) if i precrease the entire 30x30 grid? Will it help me in the rest of the collapse or will it just confuse me further?

Making the complete grid will confuse you. Most other references are outside of the grid and it will just weaken the paper. Just fold it like the diagrams tell you. As to the spread sinks I suggest you precrease them first through all layers before squashing them.
Oh and the grid is actually 40x40.

i've just realized something. i've always been unhappy with the length of the feathers in my finished eagles.

i think cuong must be using different reference points for the pleats in steps 49-51 for his display eagles than what is diagrammed.

I am trying to figure out what I did wrong in steps 84 and 85. In step 84, what is the 'squash' arrow actually
suppose to do? When I did a simple valley crease there, I just get an isosceles triangle up top so I have no paper below to do the 'unsink' in step 85. Can someone explain to me what I did wrong in step 84? Thank you.

If I remember correctly, the squash arrow is where you push in the side of the pyramid so it flattens upwards...did you have a 3d pyramid in step 84? It's easy to go wrong on this model and not realise it till a few steps later (for me anyway  ).. so many layers! If you can post pics of your progress it might be easier to help :)

These are pictures of the 'other' side, repeating steps 77 - 118.

Hmmm...looks like something may be not quite right. First thing you might try is to unsink the inside of the pyramid in photo 3 ( you may need to re-arrange the layers here, looking at the pic you need to reverse the bottom right corner of the interior layer across to the bottom left corner, before unsinking...I kinda remember using that free flap in the middle of the pyramid to unsink step 85 when I finally nailed it). The side squashed in Step 84 should be a square not a triangle...If you look at photo 1 (on you flickr) the 3 sided pyramid should have its inside layer reversed, not tucked inside. I had to unfold and refold this step on my first and second attempt (still haven't finished it  ) so you can always try that instead!
Hope this is helpful...and I'm not remembering it wrong :)

P.S. You're pics aren't showing up here, I had to paste the link. You may need to select a different sized image? If you use the preview button you can check everything is cool before posting :)

The pictures I have on Flickr are for the other side of the eagle, the repeat side, so everything is 'backwards'. I tried to just unsink using that flap, but whatever I do, the OPEN SINK in step 89 is impossible because of all the layers I still have there.

Thank you for your help anyway.

as you collapse the pyramid, the other layers should be hanging out of the bottom. you have them tucked up into the pyramid.

when sharing photos from flickr, make sure you find the bit that starts with "http://farm4..." using the other direct links makes a mess.

btw, even though the recommendation for first attempts if 50 cm, i think ppl should use a sheet larger than that. at 50 cm, the details of the tail become quite annoying, particularly if you used foil. i recommend hygloss metallic foil paper, which comes in widths of 26".
