Bethnor...thank you for your input. I will look at it tomorrow. My brain is a mass of mush right now having spent hours 'redoing' steps 77 up to 84 today!

BTW, your Eagle looks terrific. Great job!

Thanks for your input, bethnor. This is a pic of my model going into step 85. Notice that my pocket to do the unsink is not on the bottom of the 'square' but on top. I don't know how to get it the other way?

I cannot figure out how you do an inline photo but if you paste this, you should be able to get to the photo.

UPDATE: I think I got it???? I just did an UNSINK from the top half and got to step 89 where I think I can now do the Open Sink since there is only one layer of paper!

Thank you for all your help, folks! I love this forum!

you shouldn't have to unsink anything. your first picture is correct on the surface. what can happen easily is that the inner layers get rearranged and brought into the top triangle as you work on the collapse. if you cannot do the unsink in the next step, it should be easy to reach underneath the folds and swing the required flap down.

I will try it on the back side tomorrow morning. Thanks, friends.

UPDATE: Well, I am not sure what you meant about not needing to do an UNSINK but I did the 'backside' and my model looked just liked the pictures after every step. I am not sure why my pocket doing the first step 85 was on top, but maybe one foot will only have 2 toes...lol. Thanks again for all your help. I hope I don't have any more problems finishing the model but somehow...I expect some. I'll be back if I do.

you said you got everything to appear as shown in the diagrams by unsinking something. i am saying it should not be necessary. if i understand you correctly, you are saying everything seemed to go as shown on the reverse side. this is because, as i said, it is very easy when doing the collapse in step 84, to bring more layers than you are supposed to into the top half of the pyramid. just make sure that pyramid is one layer of paper and everything will appear as diagrammed.

Has anyone done steps 163 and 164? In the first picture below, you can see the steps on my laptop. I do a scan of the book pages so I can blow up the steps to see them better using the laptop.

I don't see how the swivel fold in step 163 gives you the fold in step 164. If you look at my model, there is no way that the reverse fold in step 164 can be done.

Of the four that I tried, I finagled the paper to get the top one to almost look like step 164 but it is not correct.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Bob

i'm not sure what you mean. just do another reverse fold.

if you mean, your model doesn't look like it does in the diagram, well, there's no help for that. these steps are done "to taste," and there will be some variation, depending on how large your pleats were in 149-51. just do the best you can, and if it doesn't completely match up, it's alright.

Bethnor, thank you for your help and support. I think I did it alright. I stopped worrying about looking exactly like the pictures. Here is my left wing.

The model won't lie flat in that step. It's written in the book.

In the next steps only the part that doesn't lie flat is shown. After that you fold the whole thing in half and it should lie flat. Hope that helps. If you still have problems pm me and I'll make photodiagrams for you.

Michael, great pictures! Thanks for sharing. What kind of paper are you using? Where can you get it? I think I used paper thinner than your blue paper and my claws were so thick that I could not make the claws very presentable. Can you show us pictures of your claws and final Eagle? Thanks...Bob Y
