Hi, I agree with you. It is just a different technique. The important thing is being able to use different techniques and apply the correct one in each situation.
For example, right now I am working on an insect/arachnid series using crumpling. I have already posted my dragonfly in my flickr page but I have also developed a stick insect, a mosquito and a spider. I like the end result but of course they are completely different to 'traditional' insects. However, I haven't been able to design a satisfying crumpled beetle because it has smooth areas that are incompatible with crumpling. At least, I haven't fount the way to do it yet!!!!
