Dear all,

my very pregnant self is happy to announce that the next instructional video is up. This time round I'm showing how to fold the fantastic model "Mother and Child" by Stephen Weiss.

Video on YouTube: http://youtu.be/tPegXeyEIwY

I think it's an especially fitting model for this months for two reasons:
First, in all likelihood, I'll give birth to my second child this May. And second, in many parts of the world, Mother's Day is in May.

I also just noticed I forgot to let you know about my April video. It shows how to fold a model designed by Ali Bahmani from Iran. He'd sent me some of his work by email and I was totally blown away. I love how you can easily shape the model in different ways to give it the finish you like most.

That's also why I decided to show two different ways of shaping the star in my tutorial. Thanks, Ali, for the awesome work and your permission to present it in a video!

Best wishes and happy folding,

It's the first Saturday of the month - time for another origami video tutorial! This time I'm showing you how to fold some modular origami: the Sparaxis unit, a star from 6 units and a sphere (kusudama) from 30 units.
Thanks to Ekaterina Lukasheva from http://kusudama.me/ for this fantastic design and permission to present it to you!

Picture of a fold: http://www.happyfolding.com/gallery-luk ... d_kusudama
Video on YouTube: http://youtu.be/mJ6SsdzpClc
Video on happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/instruction ... d_kusudama

And do check out Ekaterina's YouTube channel (with instructional videos!) https://www.youtube.com/user/aradddia and her book "Kusudama", details here: http://www.happyfolding.com/book-lukash ... ma_origami

But there's more news. :)
On May 9th at 11:26pm I gave birth to my second son, Niklas Adams. We're well and about and enjoying life as a family of four. For the curious amongst you, here's a picture from the first day when Felix (my older son) met Niklas: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-JobE ... -SMILE.jpg

And if that's not enough, let's add some more origami-related news! I received many great letters in celebration of reaching 50,000 subscribers, and it inspired me to start a new effort to connect more with you out there. That's why I decided to launch a new video series called "Your origami folds". In each video, I'll show photos of folds you completed of the model in my most recent origami video. Details are in the video http://youtu.be/EevKZTEFymw - but to keep things short: The deadline for submissions of photos of "Mother and Child" by Stephen Weiss (http://youtu.be/tPegXeyEIwY) is a week from now, on June 14th 2014. I'll publish the first "Your Origami Folds" a week after, on June 21st 2014.

Finally, you may be wondering about Ilan Garibi's and Gadi Vishne's newest paper review. This time - in celebration of 20 reviews - it's a special article, which features opinions on paper choice from Giang Dinh, Beth Johnson, and Robert Lang. Now if that isn't a special treat! Read the article at http://www.happyfolding.com/paper-surve ... hnson_lang or https://origamiusa.org/thefold/article/ ... per-survey

I'll have to get diagrams for it and test fold it first to see howI manage. :)
It's a stunning model for sure! I've added it to my list of models to consider for a future video.

I'm happy to share with you a new instructional video.
This time round it's all about a beautiful fawn designed by Stephen Weiss.

Thanks to Stephen Weiss for another fantastic model and his repeated permission to present his gorgeous models. Diagrams for this model can be found in OrigamiUSA's annual collection from 2000 - which, by the way, can be purchased as a pdf for just $10 ($5 for members). More details here: http://www.happyfolding.com/book-ousa-o ... collection

And I'm also excited to let you know of the first video in my new series "Your Origami Folds" where I show photos of models you sent me. This time it's all about "Mother and Child" by Stephen Weiss.

The deadline for submissions for the next "Your Origami Folds" is a week from now (July 12th), the model to fold is Sparaxis by Ekaterina Lukasheva (any assembly of the Sparaxis unit): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ6SsdzpClc or http://www.happyfolding.com/instruction ... d_kusudama
And for August, it'll be all about the fawn by Stephen Weiss (deadline: August 9th).

Hi everyone,

it's the first Saturday of the month, so here's another instructional video from my side. This time it's a pleasure to show you how to fold a star bowl designed by Dáša Ševerová. It's a fantastic model, which is not just decorative, but also useful. For example, put some sweets into it or even a tea light!

Thanks to Dáša for this wonderful model, for teaching me how to fold it in person, and giving me permission to show you how to fold it, too!

Picture of my fold: http://www.happyfolding.com/gallery-severova-star_bowl
Video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2y1q8m7UdhA
Video on happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/instruction ... -star_bowl

Do also check out Dáša's Flickr stream https://www.flickr.com/photos/dasssa - which of course includes pictures of star bowls she folded, for example https://www.flickr.com/photos/dasssa/8998368031/ and https://www.flickr.com/photos/dasssa/9000052148/

I also wanted to remind you of my "Your Origami Folds" series, which features photos of the models you folded following one of my videos. The video for September is all about Five-and-Four designed by Eric Gjerde: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2boGii3i9s
The deadline for submissions is in a week from today, September 13th, and the video will go online a week after that. Simply send a photo of your fold together with a message that allows me to include it in one of my videos.

And of course, there was also a video in August in the Your Origami Folds series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NP0owu1mRE - it's all about a fawn designed by Stephen Weiss. The tutorial's available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coAj0yhpt-M in case you missed it.

Finally, YOF October 2014 will be - as expected - all about Dáša's Star Bowl with a deadline on October 11th 2014. So c'mon, get folding. :)

Hope you have a great weekend and happy folding,

Hi! Any chance of a new Shuzo Fujimoto tutorial? His work is so hidden and not that very many models out there to fold.

Thank you.
