I wouldnt treat tracing paper, the fibers are too short and won't do anything but wrinkle and tear your paper. Instead, after you fold the base, press it flat with MC and shape carefully using MC and clothespins.

im almost done with my ryu jin 2.1 test fold. sould i use mc or glue to close the spine? if i should use glue what type?
Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
I used wallpaper glue for my latest 2.1, and it worked out fine. Any type of strong glue should work, though I don't know about mc as I don't use itmr.origami wrote:im almost done with my ryu jin 2.1 test fold. sould i use mc or glue to close the spine? if i should use glue what type?

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
Are there any full cp's (on the internet) for the 3.5's legs? Not the one on page 65, which only has 1 toe on each leg. Anyway, I ordered WOSCO and it will be arriving in a few weeks, but I would like to do some test-folds now (so I can finish the Ryujin sooner). I have test-folded the head, tail, and shaped scales, and can fold those easily and confidently. All I have left to test-fold are the legs.

Starting my second 2.1 with a 1'm x 1'm square of tracing paper. I'm using half by half method this time.

My WOSCO has arrived! I have test-folded the head but I can't seem to manage the neck twist. For now though, i'm folding a modified 2.1: It has a 3.5 head, scales (not shaping them though), tail and dorsal spines. I'm making it from a 1x1m square, which am preparing at the moment. Also, something I have found on the 3.5's
cp - It shows the white-side up, why?

Bottom half base finished!
Bottom half base of Ryujin 2.1! =D by Swapnil Das, on Flickr
Doing the real thing now! The previous was a test-fold to see if I'm capable of the Ryujin. Turns out, I was! So now I'm folding it from 80 cm of Tracing Paper. And so far it looks really good! I know transition units looks messy but that's because of the clips.
Folding from: 80x40 cm Tracing Paper.
Time taken: 8 hours, I guess? Not counting all the breaks I took, though.
Difficulty: Complex.

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
A suggestion for clips - If you put some thick paper (printer paper) between the clip and the paper you're folding from, it helps to reduce the clip warping the paper and helps it look neater. Also, a progress update on my Ryujin 2.1 deluxe (that's what i'm calling it now): I have finished pre-creasing the top half (using half cp method) and will start pre-creasing the scales now.
