Recently I began to crave a certain challenge, and that was to design an origami model of the AT-M6 from Star Wars VIII, The Last Jedi.

Finding that simply modifying an AT-AT model was unsatisfactory (I used Schulz's for reference) I have concluded that I need to find a suitable new base. I am looking for suggestions. Key elements I am attempting to capture:
-The sloped back
-The gorilla-like kucklewalk stance
-The cannon mounted above the head
-The two protrusions from the sides of the chin
-The capsules on the walker's back
It would also be cool if I could form the eyes using a color change, but depending on the complexity of the model, that may not be desirable or feasible.
Does anyone have any suggestions for starters?

A lot depends on how skilled you are at designing. Also, are you looking for a fully-3D model?
Either way, box-pleating would probably be the easiest method to use.

I would look out for an Origami Stegosaurus and try to change it into the AT-M6.
You will probably need some longer legs, but the front spines should be easy to transform into a cannon.

I would recommend finding a good gorilla design for the arm/leg/head proportions, then strip graft the capsules and forehead cannon in.
It will certainly be hard to find such an existing model. I will look for one myself and let you know if I do.

True, a gorilla or maybe a sighthound with a middle graft should work.
Another possibility would be to first do some kind of tessellationfor the mid part and then fold the animal-base (dog or gorilla) with this new sheet.

I've been doing my best to forget The Last Jedi, which actually isn't too difficult. Not much happened, and I thought it sucked.

I'm curious. Why the proposals of looking for existing models and try to adapt them into the desired subject? Wouldn't that turn the resulting model into a variation? Isn't it more satisfying to create it without it having to be another model's variation?
