What's going on in this scene?

Post by Gerardo »

This is a sketch of a scene I might be presenting. I want to see if I'm able to succesfully express my idea through this sketch.

Image

From the pose of the folds, what would you say the scene is about? What's going on?

I ask for different members to please share me your thoughts. If it's something that another member had already answered, it doesn't matter. Please post it as well; I just need you to let me know what you see. OK?

Thanks in advance :).

It looks to me like a short character with a diamond shaped face and droopy sleeves is running away from a tall character with a small stubby head and arms stretched out.

Or maybe it's a little kid running home to his dad with open arms. Hard to tell which way it's going.

To me, it looks like something out of a movie where the villain is standing over a victim, ready to finish him off.
After the fall, we rise.

Seeing all these interpretations is really interesting. The Balrog one is great!

Looks like a chicken (or similar animal, maybe even a person) running away from a mech like creature

For me, it looks like a person with a kite or paraglider running for taking off.
But it's interesting that so many people consider a pursuit.

Gerardo,

Will you reveal to us what you wanted to illustrate?
Or are our interpretations too far away?

NeverCeaseToCrease was spot on with his first answer!

The one in the front is a samurai servant (yakko-san), like the one in the back of this image: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... ervant.jpg

The one in the back is Elastic Suit Wrestler (a character I created in origami). This is more or less what I'm going for: http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/dilf411/IMG_0007_001.JPG

Here's a better picture of a fold of the model: Image

The wrestler is seconds away from giving a crushing bear hug. I tried to model the squire to make him look as if he was running away. The exaggerated size difference is meant to give the scene a cartoonish look.

I expect (and hope) it'll look a lot better with the appropiate paper and placed on a small pedestal :).
