An upcoming design of mine will involve several scale grafts, and so I wanted to get an idea of the easiest way to collapse them (and/or when to collapse them) once I actually get the CP done and precreased. I'd rather not wear out the paper by messing with it too much.
So, to those of you who have folded the Ryujin, etc.: What's the best way of folding the scales?

Re: Collapsing Scales
Every so often I get the same idea. I've found a few ounces of bourbon to be the most efficacious cure.

Re: Collapsing Scales
You could do it like Robert J Lang's Koi, where he folds all the scales in the middle, then uses his "pre scaled" paper to fold the fish.

Re: Collapsing Scales
^ I hadn't thought about that, but it wouldn't be anywhere near practical for the model in question. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
Re: Collapsing Scales
I usually collapse all of the scales first. If there is a difficult transition unit I try to find a nice folding sequence.
For my Hydra I took the CP and drew the order in which I need to collapse it all on top. Precreasing all scales is useful, but its really boring ._.
You might want to look at some Ryujin timelapses
I hope this helps

Re: Collapsing Scales
Thanks for the suggestions! I definitely plan on precreasing the scales first.
