Shuki Kato’s Giganotosaurus

Post by merman »

I consider myself a very experienced folder but is there anyone who can shed a light on these steps:

- the complex sink of step 233. The left part of this sequence is doable, mainly by untangling the vertical pleat first, but the right part is a mess. I managed to do it once correctly, but not a clue how I did it. Any pics of the inner layers?
- steps 240-241. Managed to do this also, but a cp of this portion would have been a great help. Main problem is the closed sinking of the dark region in step 240.

Hey Ryan,

Yes, that is a tough step no doubt. The challenge is keeping the crease lines of that swivel fold in step 232 in place as you perform the closed sink.

Just get it to this point and the rest will collapse quite naturally

As for the latter sequence, perhaps you are correct. There are plenty of crease pattern steps in the book, but it could still use more. In this case I thought the steps showed enough detail with most of the creases being unobscured. It's similar to steps 155-157 of the African Elephant which I very nearly added a flat crease pattern for as well.

Many thanks Shuki! Much appreciated! Turned out I did it right a couple of times!
The problem of the collapsing part is seeing where the creases go since the view is distorted because of the 3D. But your diagrams are very clear so that is not it!

Any chance for any assistance on the aforementioned sequence at 240? I can't figure it out after multiple tries, it feels as though the diagrams are directing mountains into valleys and other things that look right in the book but just don't work on paper.

Hi people, I am having trouble with step 129-130. I am able to complete the step correctly (I think) but the right side of the model does not lie flat and I cannot see how to resolve the issue without attempting some sort of complicated "unsink" that is not mentioned in the instructions....... any help appreciated.

Hi PhizzFan, if you've shelved the Giganotosaurus and still need help let me know. I have a few I can unfold to that stage and photo for you. Cheers. Col
