I'm making a free origami book (Donations appreciated)

Post by Nepafarius »

I'm in the process of diagramming for my first origami book, The Basis of Folding.

Here is the cover so far (bottom is empty because I haven't done the octopus yet).

Here's the file list, not in order. 70 pages so far including the cover.

As I said in the title, the book is going to be free. But I'll be leaving my paypal when I post the final product if anyone is feeling generous.

I hadn't posted any updates on here until today. But I'll keep you up to date if you're interested!

Looks good, something to look forward to.
I guess you could also sell it as ebook (Nicolas Terry could help you with that), although I really love free diagrams.

I thought about that. But growing up, I had a bunch of free diagrams, so I figured I would do the same for others. Also, setting a price also sets a hurdle that might turn people away. If I make it retail price, fewer people are likely to get it than if it's by donation.

I'm not really expecting payment, as this isn't a professionally made book, just something I'm putting together.

Congratulations! Looks really interesting. I know you have some very attractive models :).

I personally suggest you add some color to the cover to make it a bit more striking :!: Just a suggestion ;).

I know you also enjoy writing poetry. Have you thought about making a book that combines poetry and origami? Daniel Naranjo did that once. You can check out his free e-book in Spanish here, if you're curious about that idea: https://www.origami-shop.com/es/gratuit ... -3010.html

Looks good! I'm especially looking forward to diagrams for that lion, it looks particularly great. The other models look good too, and I'm glad to see the bacteriophage and blobfish in there.

Hi everyone, I haven't updated in a bit. Can't embed the image here but here's the link to the imgur file. It shows the major progress I've made over the last couple months, as well as some example pages. The box would have a photo of the blobfish if png wanted to save it

Last update before the final release. I have three left to compile, and have to design the final mystery model. The first one is meh, but it's a milestone for me so I included it, I hope the other one turns out better! https://i.imgur.com/QiNFOsw.png
