ODT #8 Round One: Grace vs Undertrox

Post by Grace159 »

Our chosen topic is tessellations. One model will be produced by each of us that will then be judged head to head via a poll.

Rules: One sheet of paper no cuts or glue. The starting shape of the paper is up to you.
Time: One month from today.

Have fun.

I would like confirmation that undertrox has seen this, but I'm presuming he has since he's visited since then, so I think this is underway. You have until April 21st to get your designs in.

Yes, I did indeed see this. Sorry I didn't reply, I just didn't really think about that you'd want confirmation, I'm not really used to these kinds of forums. Anyways, have fun, too, and good luck

ImageSimple Tessellation by Grace Matthews, on Flickr

Simple tessellation. I like how thin I managed to get the walls of this design, however overall I would like to design something a little more complex. If I manage it before the end of this competition I may swap this model out. For now this will be my entry.

This is my entry, I call it the bowtie tesselation because if you look at a single molecule, it looks a lot like a bowtie. It's not that complex, but with tesselations I dont think it should be too complex, so you can fold enough molecules in a reasonable amount of time.

It looks like Grace is the winner of this challenge! You both made really nice, clean, simple tessellations, so well done to both of you.

Thank you Folderp. I enjoy these challenges. I did have in mind to try and recreate Piet Mondrian’s painting, Composition with Red, Blue, and Yellow. As a tessellation, however the inspiration completely abandoned me whenever I had paper in my hands. Something for another time.
