I did a function about a week ago with Yoshisawa Akira's butterfly design. It is a very elegant and simple design, showcasing his absolute brilliance. Combine it with some fishing line (gut) and presstick and you have a winner.

of course I'm still reading the thread!
Since I'm not actually that great at origami (pretty much just youtube kawasaki roses are what I can do), I think I'll do an assortment of small things hanging from the ceiling along with some vases of flowers.

i personally found that girls love virgo dolls, maybe one on a shelf could do.
the violinist is another good origami for girls, it's so graceful
