Anyone going to post folded base pics? Or would it be better if i looked at some other SK Phoenix threads? (I was also going to ask if somebody was going to draw up a crease direction CP, but I think that none of us CP folders have too much trouble figuring out crease directions.)

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

I just found something else wrong with it. I don't have access to Photoshop on this computer, so I'll have to do my best with describing:
In the sixteenth image, the crease landmark is incorrect: The fold goes up to 11/36, which divides it in half, making the crease at 5.5/36. It should go up to 1/36 below the crease, which is 10/36, which would make the correct crease at 5/36. Just so ya know

Don't make me get metaphorical with you.

Wow, I just finished the pheonix 3.0 that origamimasterjared showed the solution for, which turned out okay. I'm definitely going to try this one next! While I dont particularly like folding Kamiya's phoenixs, I really like the outcome. Thanks for sharing

are you sure that you followed the crease pattern correctly? I folded it and it looks pertty nice I'll try to post some pictures to help you with this. In the meantime, try refolding the CP, making sure that you have all of the refrence points right; I find that when I am stuck on a model, it helps to refold it.Zoraz wrote:I have figured out the wings, chest, tail, and feet of the phoenix, but i cant seem to get the head to look right. Usually it ends up with only one beak flap, and only three feathers on the head. the other points just disappear. any tips?
Hope this helps
Hey guys, I know this sounds really dumb, but I need to know what folds I need to make to make the base for the phoenix. I've printed many cps and I've creased them all! So now all I need to do is figure out the base. If anyone could tell me what folds to make first, or take a picture of the cp and highlight the lines that need to be folded, that would be great! Thanks in advance!
I'm pretty sure there is more to life than folding origami, and I plan on finding out what that is if I grow up.

There is a sticky thread dealing with the phoenix.
Yes, you will have to read and search through some pages. There are photodiagrams showing you how to collapse the different parts.
In my opinion it would be better for you to try some easier cps before folding the phoenix.
btw, you are not done with the model after having collapsed all the creases...

Also, don't expect to just "print" out the cp and fold it. You're going to need a sheet of paper at least 70 by 70cm in size. Really thin paper. Good luck fitting a printer that big through your door.
There are already billions of photodiagrams in the forum. And those are for the tricky parts. If you can't even finish the easy parts yourself I think you're going to need A LOT more practice.

I've fallen down, and I can't get up.

Go back to the very first posting in this thread by Kevin Luo. He did a very good job of showing the steps for this CP. Don't be overly concerned about mountain vs. Valley folds, as long as you try to alternate.
Then go back and look at the other photodiagram postings to compare what you did. Figure out the closest solution to what you achieved, and take a picture of your result. Make sure that you have clear photos with good contrast. Take a photo of at least front and back and post it.
Try to guestimate where you are having problems specifically. However, remember that a diagram goes step by step, but a CP goes through more complex collapses and shaping, rather than discrete Steps.
Someone may be able to give specific guidance on some of the pre-creasing and collapsing to help you progress from your photo. They will probably point to specific photodiagrams on the Forum...
Collapsing CPs is not for the faint of heart...

When he said that you need to make all of the creases, he meant that every single crease that you see in the picture should end up on the sheet that you are going to fold. As long as you have all of the creases down, you should be fine. If you make a mistake in the mountains and valleys, always have an extra sheet of paper handy so that oyu can re-pre-crease the paper, only correcting the areas that were wrong.origami94 wrote:What does that mean? could someone post pictures so I can understand please? That would help me tons!
