I'm not good at drawing origami diagram with software like freehand (indeed I don't have this software installed neither, ). I really appreciate those people drawing origami diagrams with computer, especially complex models, it requires much efforts.
I do know drawing CPs with the software Oripa (Though I found that the software cannot fold 3D origami CP, like the original Kawasaki rose). And I posted a CP of the rose previously (several months ago) in this forum. Hope I could find that thread out.

As from the TOC of "Origami Tanteidan Convention book # 14" (viewtopic.php?t=4369) posted by halogen64, on page 3 there's one named "Hexagonal flower layers".
Don't know if that model and what I made are similar.

Yes. It is worth the trouble to learn the software and the techniques for drawing diagrams of your excellent models. Most Conventions want original models. I think that some conventions will publish duplicates of special models - for example: Brian Chan and Robert Lang models may be published in multiple Convention books.
There will be a Christmas Book this year (I expect?) that will be published and distributed only to people who submit original models.
Also, if you are prolific and diagram a number of models, then you can publish your own booklets like Dave Brill and Quentin Trollip. They are generous, so when you have a few models diagrammed and you are ready to publish your own booklet, I trust that they will relate their experience.
So, my opinion is - if you diagram, then you can publish...
