Satoshi Kamiya - Eagle Ray

Post by Brimstone »

I am trying to fold Kamiya's eagle ray but the squash from steps 17 to 21 is not working out. Would someone please give me some hints?

Sorry, I couldn't answer this earlier, as I was on break from school, where I have my books.

Personally I thought this collapse was quite clever, but here I've diagrammed an alternate folding sequence, starting from step 14:Image

Hope this helps.

I was wondering,
could you make a alternate folding sequence for the long-tailed version
starting from step 14?
I'm pretty sure I've got everything right, but up to step 14, it's weird. :?
Keep on trying, it will work.

Isn't the long tailed version identical to the normal one, but from a 4*4 grid rather than 3*3?
All you have to do is divide into fourths at the start, rather than thirds and then do everything pretty much the same way.
Not 100% sure about this, but I'll try it later on. I think this should work.

Yes it is 4x4 grid which is what I did, but it's hard to do those steps starting from step 14.
Keep on trying, it will work.

Mars, up to step 14 is the only part where they really differ. The head collapse is IDENTICAL. By the way, be very very careful around step 46. The part right in front of the spine tears easily.

Thanks for the advice!
I'll try my best to figure this out.
By the way, I want to say thanks for that alternate folding sequence for the short-tail version, that really helped! :D
Keep on trying, it will work.

Those steps seem pretty hard to explain. I got stuck on those steps before but I figured it out by messing around with. So, just try to do the same thing I did and you could get past it!

P.S.- I know, not much help, but that's all I can think of :(
Keep on trying, it will work.

You got that far!!!???
I've been wanting to make the long-tail version, but with failed attempts with the 4x4 grid only to get as far as step 13 or 14ish.
Could you show what you did on step 14 please?
Great job going to step 30!!! :D
